|
Liza Purcell is the Managing Principal of Southeast Legal Search, a search firm dedicated to providing sophisticated legal recruiting unmatched in the industry.
Liza founded the partner practice group for the Atlanta office of Major, Lindsey & Africa in 2004 and rose to be the firm’s leading recruiter in the Southeast. In 2008 she represented a large group of attorneys that opened a new office for an AmLaw 50 firm here in the Southeast. That same year she won MLA's “most difficult placement” honor on the national level. She founded Southeast Legal Search in 2009.
A graduate with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Liza studied at the London School of Economics and received her law degree from Emory University. She was a practicing attorney for fifteen years, and her experience includes both litigation and nearly a decade at a financial institution where she was in-house counsel. Liza's experience as both a practicing attorney and search professional gives her a unique perspective on the recruiting business and the needs of attorneys seeking top-tier law firm positions.
Liza is an authority on lateral recruiting and has authored a definitive article about the legal search profession in the November 2007 issue of The American Lawyer. She has also been quoted on the importance of “firm teamwork” and “compensation plans” in a two part article on lateral recruiting in the April 2008 Law Journal Newsletters.
